I’m always picking fights with people in my head over things that don’t even happen situations that grate I just extrapolate and I want to turn and vent my spleen at them I’m always on the point of rage as I go through my life I just wanna spew invective to the left and the right and I’m such a misanthrope that I haven’t a hope that I’ll ever cheer up inside Is there a way of staying angry and not feeling pathetic that I never get myself in a fight? Is there a way of staying angry and not sometimes believing that it’s cos I’m fucking up my life? Is there a way of staying angry and not convincing myself that the other guys are in the right? Is there a way of staying angry and not feeling pathetic that I never turn round and fight? Anger is an energy that I can’t afford to lose It’s the only thing that keeps me creating It’s the only thing I can use So I always bite my tongue and it’s just as well cos I’d probably get a reputation If I opened up my lips and acted out the scripts that my brain keeps generating I’ll be some weird old man who talks to himself and shouts slogans in the shopping centre at the successful mums and dads with their carrier bags who kid themselves that this is contentment.

The Gentlemen's Game (free) 03:46
Matthew is bleeding from his mouth The knuckles of the hands he shook They knocked him down The Asylum Seekers had a shit goalkeeper And the Young Offenders had some crap defenders Well who won the match? You know…. I can’t remember Working as a volunteer referee It’s not your job to keep the peace You’d think asylum seekers would be peaceful people And that young offenders would have to keep their temper Well who started the fight? You know…. I can’t remember What you fucking Raqi’s doing in our country anyway? Fuck you, motherfucker. We can kick your asses any day Take out your aggression on the pitch This is a gentleman’s game We all love to live vicariously Through the sporting achievements of our country But if an asylum seeker could be England keeper Then our team winning would just lose all meaning And a kick in the mouth Well that could just be the beginning….. We are all volunteers (we do what we want when we want to) Even the ones who don’t really live here Matthew is bleeding from his mouth The knuckles of the hands he shook They knocked him down

You and me and Winston Churchill went out to the woods one day packed up all the picnic gear and got a keg along the way and settled in a leafy glade and passed a joint around and Winston played us protest songs until the sun went down he sang... "I love my dog like a human being take him for walks and make sure that i feed him and he has grown into my best friend in the end." You and me and Winston Churchill got a house in Notting Hill Winston got a sales job and gorged himself on Prozac 'til he couldn't find his dog no more no matter where he looked so he locked himself inside a room with Albert Camus books and said... "I don't speak French but I see no reason to not read these words when my life has no meaning without my dog I am not the same man I was..." You and me and Winston Churchill went to a rave on ecstacy He said "these brightly coloured lights and bangin' tunes do not one thing for me" and then out of the crowd we heard a bark resound pawsteps came towards us we saw Winston reunited with his hound he said... "I love my dog like a human being take him for walks and make sure that I feed him and he has grown into my best friend in the end." Love thy dog like a human being take him for walks and make sure that you feed him and he will grown into your best friend you can depend

Popplewell, Tillotson, Leverhulme, Gandalf Teacher! Teacher! Spray the foam on the... Spray the foam on the boy’s pectoral The Tree of Knowledge grows from barren ground here The apples fall from the trees in the distance Read the names on the corridors of power Engorged phalluses with rich parents Thick, strong planks in the walls of a boys’ club Our education - there is none finer The hierarchy of sin is implicit Heaven forfend you go near a vagina My school reunion is not gonna happen The Tree of Knowledge can fuck my apples I took a bite now I can’t stay happy The Tree of Knowledge can fuck my apples Pray yourself to the top of the ladder Only the chosen return to the garden Make racist jokes until the asian kids join in Christians like you are why God invented lions These are the best days of our lives… Well you ruined mine

Startup chimes, cross the Rio de Palazzo Boats go by, but I’m looking through the wrong window Sentenced to life, I can stop anytime I want to But I’ll press F5 just one more time… I am friends with everyone you’re friends with on the internet I can’t believe we’ve never even met! Two-point oh – The Bridge of Sighs I can’t remember what happened to my life The sun is shining but only offline The bridge of sighs Logic Lane, we’re all lonesome mathematicians Our deadly sins, gluttons gorged on information Everyone knows everything stroke believes everything they’re told two-point-oh the bridge of sighs And if life is just a simulation happening at the end of time compiled from quantum information from every single beam of light that ever bounced of everything converging on a point of infinitely shrinking size then heaven’s just a bridge of sighs

Andy, you’re breathing through your mouth The fire in you is gonna be put out you’re paying your attention in all the wrong directions Your future you’re going to put in doubt Stop! O traveller stop and read! These carved words of warning – pay them heed! Abandon hope all ye who enter – remain a lone dissenter For it’s comfort and companionship you need When all your old school enemies and friends are doing proper jobs You’re never going to earn as much as them Don’t it piss you off? You’re living an unrealistic dream But still living it seems And if you feel the bubble’s going to burst Stick a pin in first And I don’t feel I ever have to learn There’s a troll under every bridge I burn I got an education and hence my occupation Is to never have an idea where to turn They get angry and put you in your place And the smile is wiped right off your face You used to enjoy travelling but now you’re just unravelling slack-jawed and starting into space

The Memorial Hall (free) 04:42
Left to your own devices You will forget the Memorial Hall See in the faded newsprint Thumbs up from the Pals as they wave us goodbye And I've got a girl back home I wrote her a letter I don't suppose I'll get a reply I only hope she'll remember my name Poppies we buy to remember They sell to forget in Afghnistan With our faith in the hands of bricklayers We know we can sleep deep inside its walls And as I dance in your hands tonight and those walls shake with our dancing inside We understand that our tribute's alright Except that there will be more Now we remember the disco They're holding tonight at the Memorial Hall I hope to meet eyes with your sister As she stands like a flower by the plaque, by the wall But the alcohol kicks in and somehow instead the words on the plaque just take over my head I think I shouldn't be dancing with so many dead But I'm wrong If there's a point to the fighting any point at all It's so we can dance in the Memorial Hall And if drunkenness leads us to conflict 'Supporting the Troops' versus 'Not in my Name' Someone gets bored change the subject Before I explain how they can be the same If we don't get revenge then the Bad Guys have won If the winners aren't good guys that's what they become The only point in life is just to have fun But you're wrong If there's a point to the fighting any point at all It's so we can dance in the Memorial Hall

Do I seek a simple life? Or is there life enough in these chords for two? Do I seek a simple life? Or is there life in these chords for me and Lu...? This brand new dance ain’t so easy to do It’s easy to say "create if you want to" There aren’t enough hours in the day to create it all We all seek a simple life Some will dance and some will fight Learn to dream with depression Boil life's questions down until they become Endless usable fragments of... Can music ever replace God? And if we're all just machines For replicating genes Then what the hell can any of this mean? I wish I was on medication So I had something to stop taking And I feel deep inside There is nothing deep inside Just a black space behind my eyes And I sleep in her hands And my conscience flows like sand Through the pinch in the glass of my life I am just machine (we're all just machines) We are all machines for dancing And when I lose my faith in song Your love's what keeps me strong

Nothing's gonna happen to your friends and family if you don't tow the line Nothing's gonna happen to your unborn children If the community dies Do whatever England expects you to do please forward this message to ten friends and you will be safe from harm always "as far as I can see you're a going chaos" "I'll give you a fariground ride" Just because the programme has changed don't panic Lay your infants down here (we all tow the line) bathe them in this fountain (and please close your eyes) Respect our ethnic mixture (we all tow the line) a moderate ensemble (we all stoke the fire)

Knots 01:47
I've been keeping secrets Through my face and through my fingers If there's no true heart to the island Am I leaving? Why am I leaving> Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh... Stop being such a dick I have carved your name in stone I have cursed it to the heavens and my fingers have tied so many knots that I can’t tell if they’re holding us together Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh... Stop being such a dick

My grandmother died with eyes in the back of her head called a bombscare on the monarch off the back of a nightmare Now I'm asleep again She is closing in My body cooling in your arms I am ripples on the waves Be brave

Your cadaver’s looking great old friend much the way that I remember you You didn’t live fast, you didn’t die young But you’re leaving in a good looking suit The omniscient narrator records the congregation indifferently sits though well attended your service lacks grief merely a showreel of your greatest hits And let’s pretend I have one last cigarette That can call you back from the absolute perspective of death and talk as if we were still friends go over the ‘remember when?’s Your cadaver looks great but I’ll dance at your wake tonight And it didn’t have to be this way insert image of swingsets and slides and it’s not because you sold me out I never thought myself something to buy But did £££ and ker-chings block out the inconvenience of the sensory plain? Though karma may yet be bought off by stealing from the church collection plate And let’s pretend I have been called to attest Should you ascend on high or be cast down into the depths? I’ll vouch always for who you once were but never for what you became Your cadaver looks great but I’ll dance at your wake tonight

Pretty as a picture Clutching a brightly coloured spritzer bedecked with a paper umbrella Not saying a word I ask her if she ever wonders if she really enjoys her life But how can I presume to know what someone else thinks? How can I presume to know…? I think I’ve had too much to drink Propping up the economy cos you don’t know what else to do That’s why millionaires need people like you I don’t need you to fight my battles for me
